German Federal Constitutional Court amends existing inheritance tax legislation / Rödl & Partner warns this may result in a higher tax burden for large family-owned companies

Karlsruhe/Nuremberg, December 17, 2014: The existing German inheritance and gift tax law is unconstitutional. The tax relief provisions foreseen by law concerning the transfer of business assets are in conflict with the principle of equality under constitutional law. Nuremberg, 20.05.2014: Rödl & Partner continues to expand its position as one of the leading international consulting and auditing firms for German family-owned companies. In the financial year ending 31 December 2013, turnover increased by 6.2% to reach 298.6 million euros. Turnover in Germany amounted to 160.9 million euros (up 4.6%), whereas business outside Germany increased by 8% to reach 137.7 million euros. The company now has 3,700 employees (up by 5.7%) in 94 wholly-owned offices around the world. ›››

Rödl & Partner advises African Union Commission on Geothermal Risk Mitigation Facility development funds for geothermal projects in East Africa

Nuremberg/Addis Ababa, April 17, 2014: The African Union Commission (AUC), Africa's counterpart to the EU commission, plans to extensively promote the use of geothermal energy in East Africa. In co-operation with the German KfW Development Bank, the AUC has created the Geothermal Risk Mitigation Facility (GRMF), a development fund as a market incentive program for the energy markets of Burundi, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Ruanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. The objective of the GRMF is to encourage public and private investors (project developers) to develop geothermal projects for power generation in Eastern Africa by providing cost share grants for surface studies and drilling of reservoir exploration wells. 50 million Euros have been committed for projects that shall subsequently lead to electricity generation in Eastern Africa. ›››
