Nuremberg, 1st July, 2010: Rödl & Partner remains on course for success. Against the market trend, the legal advisory and audit company was able to maintain growth in the business year for 2009 (31.12.2009). Total turnover rose 4 per cent to 217.85 million euros, of which 125.7 million euros were generated inside Germany and 92.15 million euros outside Germany. The number of staff has risen to 3,025. Rödl & Partner is therefore a leading German independent legal advisory and audit company with global operations.
"Four per cent growth in this crisis year is a strong indication of success", emphasises Dr. Bernd Rödl, founder and managing partner of Rödl & Partner. "Our business model, designed to enable us to offer comprehensive legal and audit services to German companies with international operations, is competitive and very successful."
The growth was especially driven by the extensive consulting and audit services of international associated companies. This has enabled Rödl & Partner to continually win new clients.

Business development has been significant in special areas such as real estate investment, regenerative energy, private equity, and consulting services for municipal authorities, companies in the public sector, investment companies and companies in the health sector. "Rödl & Partner has become a leading consulting firm in the international field of regenerative energy. We give support to investors with their projects in Germany and in growth markets such as China, Italy, Spain and the US", explains Rödl. Clients include project developers, fund management companies, manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech products such as solar panels and wind generators. "In Italy and Spain we are the leading consulting firm offering legal, accounting and commercial services for regenerative energy projects. We have succeeded in tapping these consulting markets and have used our multidisciplinary expertise to win a substantial market share for consulting services", says Rödl.
Despite the downturn in growth, especially evident in central and Eastern Europe, Rödl & Partner has enjoyed growth outside Germany. "We are the only German company to operate in 37 countries around the world with own offices and German-speaking experts. This gives us an important competitive edge", explains managing partner Monika Rödl-Kastl. "Many clients have re-structured their business outside Germany to be able to re-invest. This has resulted in numerous commissions in connection with company law and accounting law. There has also been a strong demand for transnational consulting on labour law. Demand in the area of compliance and associated questions has also increased considerably over the last two years."
The locomotive for growth has been the international business with Asia. "At the present time especially manufacturing companies are concentrating their investments in this economic zone. Large groups and smaller medium-sized companies are profiting from these markets. Those who wish to grow have to be present in these markets", emphasizes Rödl-Kastl. "Asia, however, is not China. Many enterprises are currently restructuring their business in Asia because of the increase in costs for labour and raw materials. Our strong presence in Asia sees us ideally placed to be able to provide German companies with support as they take these strategic steps", says Rödl-Kastl.
Rödl & Partner is confident it will achieve strong growth in the current year. "The order situation is healthy. Companies are investing again", explains Dr. Christian Rödl. "Many companies are currently planning strategic acquisitions to open up new markets outside Germany. We are in an excellent position to provide support." Rödl & Partner plans to further expand their current network of 84 offices. "We are going for organic growth", says Rödl. "This is the only way to preserve our independence and enable us to react quickly to market trends."
The company has succeeded in building up a strong presence at locations such as Eschborn, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich and Stuttgart. Outside Germany, growth has mainly increased in countries where German companies prefer to invest. At the beginning of 2010, a new office was opened in Bozen and the 84th office was opened in Almaty, the economic center of Kazakhstan.
