Mexico City/Nuremberg, 01.09.2011: Rödl & Partner is the first German professional services firm to establish own offices in Mexico. At the Mexico City and Puebla locations a team of experienced German and Mexican tax and accounting experts will advise companies from German speaking countries on their activities in Mexico. The new office at Puebla means that Rödl & Partner is represented at all important locations of the German automotive industry worldwide. In previous years offices were established at the automotive locations in Birmingham (UK), Chicago (USA), Johannesburg (South Africa) and São Paulo (Brazil) in addition to the existing offices.
"German industry needs services companies to provide multidisciplinary consulting and represent its worldwide interests. Our activities are dedicated towards this strategic aim. The new offices in Mexico indicate the importance we attach to this market. This is one of the most important location decisions we have undertaken in the course of our international expansion", explains chairman of the board Professor Dr. Christian Rödl. "Our organisation is one of the few international alternatives to Anglo-American professional servcies groups."
"Representation in Mexico is significant for our global commitment. This country has a market with considerable potential and it is developing more and more into an important international production location for German companies", emphasises Managing Partner Dr. Marcus Felsner, responsible for Latin America. "Mexico is gaining in importance for the automotive industry. Today, all the main automotive suppliers are represented in Mexico. It is essential that we can now accompany our clients in this significant market with our own professionals."
The Mexican certified accountant José A. García will manage the offices in Mexico City and Puebla. García comes from PwC, where he was employed since 1991, also as the manager of the German desk in Mexico and as responsible partner for the annual audit of one of the largest German investors in Latin America, with three years service in the group's audit team in Germany. García speaks fluent German and has a very good reputation in Mexico, in particular with the companies represented there from Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
"At Rödl & Partner we are geared to advising and auditing large groups and also smaller medium-sized companies. We offer entrepreneurs a personal service. That was the main reason for changing to Rödl & Partner", explains José A. García. "Rödl & Partner will soon be one of the leading international firms offering professional services in Mexico. The German companies are enthusiastic because at last a German professional services firm has a local presence."
There are also many German companies operating in the north of Mexico. Mexico is the largest exporting nation of Latin America and is an important bridgehead to the US dollar area for many international companies. The largest Spanish speaking nation on earth has recently attracted numerous new investments, in particular in the areas of automotive, mechanical engineering and production line technology, energy and infrastructure and is also becoming more and more attractive as a market for high quality consumer goods. Almost half of all direct investments in Latin America are today made in Mexico. The country benefits from its network of free trade agreements which is unique worldwide and from an especially large number of double taxation treaties. In the modern industrial centre of Puebla there are more than 130.000 people employed in German companies.
In the coming three years, the Mexican automobile association estimates investments to the tune of 10 billion US dollars in the Mexican automotive sector. Mazda has already announced the founding of a production plant and there is speculation about investments from two further Asian manufacturers. In July 2011 Volkswagen started production of the third generation Beetle ("Beetle 2012") in Puebla. Furthermore, Volkswagen is building a new engine plant in Silao in the federal state of Guanajuato. The engines will be produced for the plant in Puebla and for production in Chattanooga (USA). There is also talk of a new production facility for AUDI AG in Mexico.
