The Second Stage of the implementation of Minimum Wage in Malaysia has been scheduled for August 1, 2025 | RÖDL

Malaysia has been progressively implementing minimum wage policies to ensure fair compensation for workers across various sectors.  Beginning August 1, 2025, Malaysia will enter the second phase of its revised minimum wage rollout under the Minimum Wages Order 2024.

This phase extends the RM1,700 monthly minimum wage to all employers, regardless of company size or sector.

Previously, only businesses with five or more employees or those engaged in professional activities were required to comply starting February 1, 2025. The August implementation now closes that gap, ensuring uniform wage standards across the country.

As the date approaches, ongoing discussions and preparations are crucial to ensure a smooth transition and effective enforcement of the new wage standards. Employers must update payroll systems, employment contracts, and budget forecasts to ensure full compliance. Failure to adhere may result in penalties.
