Implementation of Minimum Wages Order 2024 | RÖDL
The Minimum Wage Order 2024 (‘Order’) was gazetted on 4 December 2024. Please refer to here for our previous article on the Minimum Wage Order 2024.
The first stage of the order came into force on 1 February 2025. The monthly minimum wage is RM1,700 and the first stage of implementation applies to the following employers:
- Employers with 5 or more employees; and
- Employers classified as employers with occupational jobs under the Malaysia Standard Classification of Occupations 2020 (please refer to here), regardless of the number of their employees.
Stage 2 of the implementation of the order will come into force on 1 August 2025.
Any employer who fails to pay their employees the minimum wage set out in the order commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding RM10,000 for each employee under section 43 of the National Wages Consultative Council Act 2011.
