Rödl Advises Sartorius AG on the Acquisition of MatTek’s Microtissue Business

Munich, April 30, 2025: Rödl advised Sartorius AG on the acquisition of the microtissue business of MatTek Corporation, a company of the Swedish BICO Group AB. The transaction also includes the acquisition of Visikol Inc. The purchase price is 80 million US dollars (approx. 72 million euros) and the acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter of 2025, subject to customary regulatory approvals.
Rödl provided Sartorius AG with comprehensive support in the areas of Transaction Services, Valuation Services, and Tax Services in Germany, the USA, and Slovakia. “We are proud to have accompanied Sartorius on this strategically important acquisition. The acquisition will further strengthen Sartorius’ position in the field of cell technologies,” said Matthias Zahn, Partner at Rödl. Through the acquisition, Sartorius AG will expand its portfolio to include 3D microtissue models and primary cells. These models offer a more precise, cost-effective, and reproducible alternative to traditional 2D cultures.
