Ho-Chi-Minh-City (previously known as Saigon) is Vietnam's economic and financial centre and an important international transport hub. Ho-Chi-Minh-City has experienced strong economic growth with GDP growth rates of more than 8 percent in 2016 and 2017. The city is attracting sizable volumes of foreign direct investment as it integrates into regional and global supply chains. With a well-developed infrastructure and high number of internationally competitive industrial parks, Ho-Chi-Minh-City and its neighbouring provinces are seeing growing foreign and domestic investment in the biotechnology, mechanical engineering, food processing, wind and solar power, textile and garment as well as the leather and footwear industries.

With a population of over 9 million – predicted to rise to around 13.9 million by the year 2025 – Ho-Chi-Minh-City is the largest city in Vietnam. The young population and growing mobility increases the city’s attractiveness for investors.
