Together for the youngest: A donation project supporting premature babies and stillborn children

Giving birth to a premature child or losing a child is one of the emotionally most challenging experiences for parents and also for the relatives. The association supports these families in this difficult time – with practical assistance but also with words of comfort and empathy.

Founder Marina Rupp knows from her own experience how this feels. When her little girl was born way too early in 2015, she realised how difficult it was to find appropriate clothing for premature babies. Thankful for the support she received, she started sewing and donating clothes herself.  What started as a personal gesture, quickly developed to become a community. More and more people joined her, donated money, materials or started sewing. In 2018, the association was established – and has about 300 members today.

 Why we should help

The work of the association is invaluable but relies on donations. We did not need to be told twice and immediately contacted the association. They were very thankful and pointed in particular to the rising cost of snap buttons which they use as practical fasteners, for example, for romper suits, bodysuits and other clothing for premature and stillborn children. The Rödl Employee Fund for Children's Aid was happy to help out –  as a  little surprise, the Fund added premium fabrics with lovely kids design by Krümelchen & Kuchen to the donation package and handed it over to Ms Sorgenfrei representing the association.

The work of Nähen für Frühchen und Sternenkinder Beilngries e.V. shows how much can be achieved through empathy and solidarity. Also the heart-to-heart talk with Ms Sorgenfrei has shown us one more time clearly the importance of togetherness – through dialogue and support.  Every piece of clothing, every baby cap, every blanket is more than just fabrics – they are symbols of love, dignity and remembrance. Let’s help together. For the youngest. For the families. For the love that stays on.
