Important changes to Business Visa Processing

Recently, the Ministry of Public Security has suspended the option for a visa on arrival for foreigners, which means that all foreigners not benefitting from a visa exemption and wishing to enter Vietnam now are requested to collect their visa at the Embassy/Consulate of Vietnam overseas instead of receiving it at the airport (“VISA ON ARRIVAL”). 
  
The new procedure applies until further notice.
    

Presence of a management representative required

The Immigration Department also requires the presence of a management level employee of the company sponsoring the visa, while an application for issuance of a  business visa is submitted. Currently, according to the new regulation of the Immigration Department, the employee of the company must submit the visa application directly to the relevant authority. 
 

Flexibility is key

In some cases applications can only be submitted in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. 
Foreign entrants therefore should prepare a flexible schedule for their travel so that the company in Vietnam can have sufficient time to submit visa application and they can arrange to pick up the visa at the relevant Vietnamese Embassy/Consulate in good time as well.
