Work-Life Balance

PrintMailRate-it
The Singapore government is introducing new measures to support parents in their work-life balance and encourage paternal involvement.

Paternity leave

As of 1 January 2024, eligible working fathers of Singaporean children born from 1 January 2024 onwards, will be able to take 4 weeks of government-paid paternity leave, up from the current 2 weeks.

The additional 2 weeks will initially be given on a voluntary basis at the discretion of the employer.

Employers who grant the 2 additional weeks of leave will be reimbursed by the government. In due course, it will become mandatory for employers to grant the additional 2 weeks to eligible working fathers.

Unpaid infant care leave

As of 1 January 2024, unpaid infant care leave for eligible parents with Singaporean children aged under 2 will be raised from 6 days to 12 days per parent per year.
