Long Term Residence Visa

The Thai government has introduced a new long term residence visa permitting certain foreigners to stay in Thailand for a period of 10 years. The visa grants certain benefits, such as the possibility to obtain a work permit or to even work in Thailand without being issued a work permit.  
  
It also lifts burdens such as being required to report to the immigration every 90 days, if the foreigner does not leave Thailand during such period. 
  
In general, the following groups of foreigners may apply for an LTR visa:

WEALTHY GLOBAL CITIZEN​
  • USD 1 million in assets
  • Personal income of USD 80,000 a year in the past two years
  • Investment of USD 500,000 in Thai government bonds, foreign direct investment and Thai property
  • Health insurance with a coverage of at least USD 50,000 or social security benefits in Thailand or a deposit of USD 100,000
WEALTHY PENSIONERS​

Personal income of

  • USD 80,000 a year at the time of application OR
  • USD 40,000 a year plus investment of USD 250,000 in Thai government bonds, foreign direct investment or property
  • Health insurance with a coverage of at least USD 50,000 or social security benefits in Thailand or a deposit of USD 100,000
​WORK FROM THAILAND PROFESSIONALS

​Personal income of

  • USD 80,000 per year over the past two years OR
  • USD 40,000 per year plus a master’s degree or above, or ownership of intellectual property, or receiving Series A funding

Employee of a company abroad 

  • either on a public stock exchange OR
  • Private Company with total revenues of at least USD 150 million over the past three years
  • Five years of work experience
  • Health insurance with a coverage of at least USD 50,000 or social security benefits in Thailand or a deposit of USD 100,000
​HIGHLY-SKILLED PROFESSIONALS

​Personal income

  • USD 80,000 per year over the past two years OR
  • USD 40,000 per year plus a master’s degree or above or ownership of intellectual property, or receiving Series A funding OR
  • No personal income requirement if working for a Thai government agency


Working for 

  • Targeted industry (next generation automotive, smart electronics, affluent tourism, agricultural and biotech industry, high value-added food processing, automation and robotics, aviation, biofuels and biochemicals, digital industry, medical industry, defense industry, HR and R&D for a targeted industry, industry facilitating circular economies, other industries as prescribed by the government OR
  • Higher education institute, research institute, or Thai government
  • Five years of work experience
  • Health insurance with a coverage of at least USD 50,000 or social security benefits in Thailand or a deposit of USD 100,000
