Dr. iur. Monika Behrens, attorney at law and Partner co-heading the legal service line at Rödl & Partner in Poland, is among the 25 most prominent women lawyers in business. The report was initiated by ForbesWomen Polska and the Women in Law Foundation.

Representatives from a wide variety of backgrounds were invited to join the jury of the first edition of the ranking, nominating women lawyers who made a significant impact on Polish business. Professional achievements, support for other women from the legal milieu and pro-bono activities were the main criteria that guided the jury in its selection.

“I am very happy to be included in this group and I am extremely grateful for this honour. It is an exceptional reward for many years of challenges I have undertaken together with Rödl & Partner. I am proud to co-create a workplace at Rödl & Partner Poland where we follow the “caring partner” principle and achieve business success through implementing a management strategy centred on such values as care (about employees, teams, clients), team spirit, entrepreneurship, internationality and a success-driven mindset. In our organisation we place emphasis on removing “glass ceilings”, which make it difficult for women to take up management positions. By modern corporate governance, we do not only mean the "agile" management of a company with increased use of new means of digitalisation, but above all a management that promotes people, respects their health and supports their balanced development. I would like to thank especially all people in Poland and Germany that I have met on my career path and who have supported me. I am happy that I can now become a mentor for the next generations of lawyers”, says Monika Behrens.

This highly prestigious award recognises Monika Behrens’ professional achievements and her support for the professional development of female lawyers, including the mentoring activities she has carried out in the Women in Law Foundation since its inception. Also highlighted is her active involvement in Rödl & Partner's internal mentoring programme, which prepares female managers to exercise their leadership function in accordance with the values practised at Rödl & Partner.

Monika Behrens is an attorney at law (Poland) with many years of advisory experience gained in Germany and Poland. Monika graduated from Heidelberg University, where she obtained the degree of Doctor of Law (Dr.iur.) (2008) and from Jagiellonian University, where she also obtained the degree of Doctor of Law (2012). She worked for several years as an assistant professor to Dr. Dres. h.c. Marcus Lutter at the Centre of European Corporate Law in Bonn. She completed her legal training in Poland with honours and became a licensed attorney at law in 2012.
