Rödl Employee Fund for Children’s Aid: Clowns help alleviate hospital anxiety – Handover of the donation to KlinikClowns Bayern e.V.

Laughter as the best medicine: The Rödl Employee Fund for Children's Aid has supported the KlinikClowns Bayern e.V. association with a donation of EUR 1,800. Every visit of the two clowns to the paediatric clinic at Schwabing Hospital in Munich brings joy, courage and confidence – a small gesture meaning a lot.

Laughter cures the soul – especially when you are in hospital

The KlinikClowns have been visiting young patients of the Schwabing Hospital in Munich for over 25 years now. Their "joyful visits" brighten the day of small patients:  With red noses, colourful costumes and a great deal of empathy, they make fears, worries and pain fade away and make place for laughter, courage and hope. In particular children who have to spend weeks or months in hospital due to illness often suffer from isolation, insecurity or pain. 

The clowns' visits are more than just distraction – they offer support for children's mental health and thus also for the healing process.

A project that touches hearts

The Rödl Employee Fund for Children's Aid has been supporting initiatives for the welfare of children for many years. The recent donation of EUR 1,800 handed over to KlinikClowns Bayern e.V. will make a valuable contribution to the financing of the weekly visits of the clowns on the wards of the Schwabing Children's Hospital.

The donation was handed over in person at the Munich hospital on 4 June 2025. Regina Völker and Lena Oettle symbolically handed over the sum to the two clowns "Dr Machtnix" and "Dr Gurki" on behalf of the Fund. All were delighted with the support and the handover was a joyful ceremony, full of laughter and lighthearted moments.

Sustainable impact through continuing support

The work of the KlinikClowns is financed entirely by donations. This makes reliable support such as that provided by the Rödl Employee Fund all the more important. The regular visits of the clown pairs would not be possible without the commitment of sponsors. With its donation, the Fund is helping to ensure that many children can continue to benefit from this special therapeutic programme also in the future.

"A child's smile is priceless – but it needs people to make it happen", emphasised the KlinikClowns at the handover. The donation makes it possible for the hospital to plan and carry out further visits, in the spirit of the mission: Healing process begins with a smile.
