Use of Bill Number as Mandatory Reference for Payment of Taxes

PrintMailRate-it
On December 31, 2022, the IRB announced that the use of the BILL NUMBER (16-digit serial number) as a mandatory reference for the payment of all types of direct taxes, with the exception of the Monthly Tax Deduction ("MTD") and Stamp Tax, will be effective January 1, 2023.

This serves as a reference for the IRB to support the reconciliation of payments to the assessment for that year.

A bill number can be obtained by clicking on the  government´s MyTax portal at https://mytax.hasil.gov.my/:

  1. click "ezHasil Services"
  2. click "Search Bill Number"

It will also be included in assessment or valuation notices, as well as in payment notices sent to taxpayers by the IRB.

However, to ensure a smooth transition, the Tax Identification Number ("TIN") or Tax Reference Number can still be used to pay direct taxes until June 30, 2023.
