Permanent Secretary of Labour and Chairman of the Wage Committee Jarin Chakkapak has announced a proposal regarding new daily minimum wages in Thailand which shall become effective on 1 April 2018.

The current daily minimum wage ranges from THB 300 (approx. EUR 7.70) to THB 310 (approx. EUR 7.95). The new daily minimum wages will range between THB 308 (approx. The minimum wage for Bangkok and surrounding provinces (Bangkok, Chachoengsao, Nahkon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon) will be set to THB 325 (approx. EUR 8.35). The average minimum wage will thus be approx. THB 316 (approx. EUR 8.10).
